Kent Police are appealing for witnesses and footage after a 9-year-old girl was injured in a hit-and-run collision in Maidstone.

The incident happened at around 9pm on Monday, 23 June 2025, in Oak Tree Avenue, near the junction with Mangravet Avenue.

What Happened

The child was crossing the road when she was struck by a black hatchback, believed to be a Peugeot or Vauxhall, with a possible registration starting LY08.

The driver reportedly stopped briefly before leaving the scene in the direction of Grove Road.

The girl was treated at the scene by South East Coast Ambulance Service and taken to hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be serious, but officers say the consequences could have been far worse.

Police Appeal

A spokesperson for Kent Police said:

We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the incident, or who has dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage from the area around 9pm on Monday evening, to come forward.

This is a serious matter, and we are working to identify the driver involved.”

  • Check CCTV, dashcams, or doorbell footage from Oak Tree Avenue, Mangravet Avenue, or Grove Road around 8.45pm to 9.30pm on Monday, 23 June.
  • Look out for a black hatchback with potential damage, possibly a Peugeot or Vauxhall, with reg starting LY08.
