Major Chemical Incident Response in Bath City Centre

Emergency services rushed to Bath city centre this afternoon following a suspected chemical attack that left several people ill. The incident unfolded around 2:30 PM when a woman allegedly approached pedestrians in Stall Street with a bag containing a white powder. The substance caused immediate health concerns among the bystanders.

The South Western Ambulance Service was first on the scene, alerting Avon and Somerset Police by 3:08 PM. The rapid response included more than 20 emergency vehicles, with 14 ambulances dispatched to assist the affected individuals.

Four people have been treated for symptoms related to exposure to the mysterious white powder. Emergency crews wearing protective gear are working meticulously to secure the area and mitigate any further risks to public health.

Authorities have cordoned off the affected section of Stall Street as they continue their investigation into the nature of the powder and the circumstances of its release. Avon Fire and Rescue Service is also on-site, providing necessary support to ensure the area is decontaminated.

Local police have urged the public to avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed if nearby to avoid any contact with the potentially harmful substance. As part of their statement, the police reassured the community, stating, “We have well-rehearsed plans for responding to such incidents and are working closely with our emergency service partners to resolve the situation as safely and quickly as possible.”

The identity of the woman involved has not been disclosed as investigations are ongoing. The motive behind this alarming act is still unclear, and further updates are expected as the situation develops. Residents are advised to stay informed through official updates and heed any instructions from local authorities.
