Major supermarkets and retailers across the UK have released their opening hours for the holiday season, providing valuable information for those planning their post-Christmas shopping.
Aldi:
- Aldi will remain closed on Boxing Day.
- It will be open on Christmas Eve from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.
- From December 27 to December 30, Aldi stores will open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
- On New Year’s Eve, Aldi will be open from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.
- Aldi will be closed on New Year’s Day.
Aldi UK’s Communications Director, Richard Thornton, emphasized that closing stores on Boxing Day allows employees more time to spend with their families during the holiday season.
Lidl:
- Lidl is expected to be open on Boxing Day from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
- It will be closed on Christmas Day.
- On Christmas Eve, Lidl stores will open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- From December 27 to December 30, Lidl will operate its usual hours from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.
- Lidl stores will be closed on New Year’s Day.
Iceland:
- Iceland, including its Food Warehouse stores, will be closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
- On Christmas Eve, Iceland stores will open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- From December 27 to December 31, Iceland stores will be open, with New Year’s Eve hours expected to vary.
- Iceland stores will be closed on New Year’s Day.
Poundland:
- Poundland will be closed on December 26 and January 1, 2024.
- From December 27 to December 30, Poundland stores will operate as usual, with varying hours on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, closing at 4:00 pm.

Home Bargains:
- Home Bargains will be closed on both Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
- All Home Bargains stores will close at 5:00 pm on December 24.

John Lewis & Waitrose:
- Waitrose and its parent company, John Lewis, will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
