Man Charged in Connection with Stabbing Death Appears in Court

Tyrese Osei-Kofi, a 24-year-old resident of East Dulwich in south-east London, has appeared in court on charges related to the death of Jamel Boyce. Boyce, who was fatally stabbed outside a Sainsbury’s in Clapham, south London, in October 2016, died six years later as a result of the attack.

The Old Bailey heard that the stabbing incident caused Boyce to suffer a cardiac arrest, leading to severe brain damage. The sustained injuries left him blind, paralyzed, and unable to communicate. Tragically, he passed away in a care home at the age of 22 in February 2022.

A post-mortem examination identified the cause of death as a penetrating injury to the chest.

During the brief hearing, Tyrese Osei-Kofi, appearing in a grey prison uniform, did not enter a plea. Judge Richard Marks KC remanded him in custody until a plea hearing scheduled at the same court for March 26.

A provisional trial date has been set for October 28
