Woman left Fighting for Life after freak accident involving a Beach Buggy in Havant

A woman has been left in a threatening condition following an incident involving a beach buggy in Havant on Sunday. The woman who was the driver the 1970’s style blue beach buggy was driving down North Street when the scarf she was wearing became entrapped in the wheels of the open top buggy. Passer-by alerted the emergency services and attempted to free the woman from the buggy. Emergency services rushed to the scene just after 12.30 and the road was closed off whilst Paramedics treated the woman who was rushed to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham with life changing injuries. A spokesman for South Central ambulance said”We were called to reports of a woman who had been injured whilst using an open top vehicle the woman a 65 year old female had a scarf wrapped around her neck and had become trapped in the vehicle. We sent a rapid response paramedic and an ambulance to the scene. The patient was treated at the scene by crews. The woman was rushed to QA hospital in a life threatening condition and left in the care of the hospital resus team.
