Around 70 firefighters responded to a significant blaze at a fifteen-storey tower block on Queen’s Road West in Plaistow, east London, early Monday morning. The fire broke out in a tenth-floor flat of the Scott House estate, forcing 30 residents to evacuate.
Thick smoke was visible rising from the building, prompting around 30 emergency calls from witnesses at approximately 8:02 AM. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) quickly dispatched ten fire engines, including teams from East Ham, Plaistow, Stratford, and surrounding stations, to tackle the flames.

Three men, who had managed to leave the flat before firefighters arrived, were treated at the scene by paramedics. The LFB reported that both the balcony and the interior of the flat were alight. Firefighters used specialist equipment, including aerial ladders, to bring the situation under control.
The fire was declared under control within an hour. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined.

Newham’s mayor, Rokhsana Fiaz, commented on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, stating: “Officers from [Newham Council] are supporting the [London Fire Brigade] crew as they deal with this fire incident in Plaistow at Scott House on Queens Road West. Close monitoring of the unfolding situation and support for residents underway.”

Local authorities and emergency services remain on-site, assisting displaced residents and ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.
