Worthing Burger Shop Puts Up £1,000 Reward After Windows Smashed

A new burger restaurant in Worthing has been left devastated after its front windows were smashed in a suspected act of targeted vandalism.

Smash’d Burgers, based on Ham Road, was one of two businesses attacked late on Saturday night (June 22). The second business affected was A Star Waste Management, located directly next door.

The attack comes just three months after the restaurant opened, with owners describing the incident as both financially damaging and emotionally distressing.

“We’re gutted and angry,” the team at Smash’d said in a statement posted on social media. “This is going to cost us a lot to put right — not just financially, but emotionally too. It’s a hard hit to take when all we’re trying to do is bring something good to the local area.”

£1,000 Reward for Information

The restaurant has announced a £1,000 reward for information that leads to the identification of the person responsible. They are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area late on Saturday night to come forward.

The owners have also said tip-offs can be made anonymously to the business itself. They are specifically seeking the name and address of the individual believed to be responsible.

Police Investigation Underway

Sussex Police have confirmed the incident has been reported and are investigating. Anyone with information is urged to contact the force directly, quoting crime reference number 4725/0120465.

Community Support

Local residents and fellow business owners have already expressed support for Smash’d Burgers, with many voicing frustration at the attack.

One commenter wrote:

“This is heartbreaking. A new business trying to do something good — and this happens? Hope the person is caught soon.”
