Police are investigating a triple shooting in Sydenham that left one man dead and two others injured, which took place the morning after a “very busy” flat party in the area. Residents reported that the gathering at a flat in Hensford Gardens on Wells Park Road continued into the early hours before gunfire erupted around 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 10.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to find a man with fatal gunshot injuries. Despite efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the location. A woman with gunshot wounds to her legs was taken to the hospital, where her injuries were reported as non-life-threatening. A third individual later arrived at the hospital with suspected gunshot injuries, though their current condition remains unknown.

The eastern end of Wells Park Road and parts of Hensford Gardens were cordoned off by police on Monday, with forensic teams conducting investigations around the scene. Commander Peter Stevens condemned the shooting as a “senseless act of violence” and assured the community that officers are working tirelessly to identify those responsible. “I share the community’s concerns and can assure them that the Met’s response, alongside our partners, has been swift,” he said.

Residents described a chaotic scene the night before, with numerous people coming and going from the flats. Sabrina Charles, 42, who lives nearby, said, “The music started around 11 p.m. and carried on until 5 a.m. It didn’t bother me initially because I assumed it was a celebration, but later I learned there had been a shooting.”

Police have not yet made any arrests and are appealing to the public for information. Witnesses or anyone with phone, CCTV, or doorbell footage relevant to the incident is urged to contact the police.
