Boy, 17, Fights for Life After Savage Carshalton Stabbing

A 17-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after a vicious stabbing in Carshalton, southwest London.

Emergency services rushed to Green Wrythe Lane at around 11:30am on Thursday, 30 January, after reports of a teenager being attacked in the street.

The boy was found with serious stab wounds and was immediately treated at the scene by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and specialists from London’s Air Ambulance before being rushed to hospital. He remains in a critical condition.

Police Launch Urgent Appeal

Officers from the Metropolitan Police closed off part of Green Wrythe Lane to conduct a thorough investigation. Although the road has since been reopened, a full investigation is ongoing, and detectives are urging witnesses to come forward.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Met Police said:

Police were called at 11:30am on Thursday, 30 January to reports of a stabbing in Green Wrythe Lane, Carshalton. Officers, the London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance attended. A 17-year-old male was found with stab injuries and taken to hospital. He remains in a critical condition. No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue.”

Community in Shock

Local residents have expressed shock and sadness over the brutal daytime attack, describing the area as normally “quiet and safe.”

One shopkeeper near the scene said:

“It’s horrifying. You send your kids to school thinking they’re safe — and then something like this happens.”

Social media has been flooded with messages of support for the boy’s family, with many calling for tougher measures to tackle London’s ongoing knife crime crisis.

This attack comes amid growing concerns about knife violence across the capital. According to recent Met Police statistics, London has seen a 7% rise in knife-related injuries among teenagers over the past year, despite continued crackdowns and community outreach initiatives.
