A woman has been found dead at a property in East Peckham.
Police officers and forensic teams were seen attending a house in Tonbridge Road, near the Man of Kent pub, on Wednesday (July 17).
The force was called by paramedics at around 10.40am after a woman in her 50s was found dead.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
A report is being prepared for the coroner to determine the exact cause of death.
Local residents reported a significant police presence and forensic activity at the scene throughout the day. One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It was quite a shock to see so many police and forensic officers here. It’s usually a very quiet area.”
The police have assured the public that there is no ongoing risk and that the investigation is standard procedure in such circumstances.
The woman’s identity has not yet been released as authorities work to notify her next of kin.
A spokesperson for the Kent Police said: “We were called by South East Coast Ambulance Service to a property in Tonbridge Road, East Peckham, at 10.40am on Wednesday, July 17. A woman in her 50s was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
