The Malones, the beloved family from Gogglebox, are mourning the loss of their cherished pet rottweiler, Dave. The heartbroken family took to Instagram on Wednesday to pay a touching tribute to their loyal companion, sharing a series of heartwarming throwback photos and videos.
Julie, a member of the Malones, was amongst the first to post, sharing an adorable clip of Dave basking in the sunshine. In a heartfelt caption, she expressed, “RIP Dave xxx There are no words to describe you, or how much you meant to us. This was you on Sunday waiting for your dad to come back, and he had only gone out to the car… We are all going to miss you so much.”
Tom Jr., age 30, also posted a moving snapshot of himself tenderly scratching Dave’s chin, accompanied by a heartwarming video of Dave playfully catching bubbles in the garden. Overwhelmed by grief, Tom Jr. wrote in his caption, “Heartbroken to let you guys know that Dave has sadly left us today… I think we can all agree that there will never be another one like him. Rest Easy Dave.”
The news of Dave’s passing saddened the Malones’ fans and friends, who flooded the comments section with messages of condolences and support. One follower wrote, “So sorry to hear this, I feel heartbroken for you! All of you, including Dave, were certainly the highlight of the show.” Another commented, “That’s so sad. So sorry for your loss,” while a third said, “Aww Dave RIP beautiful boy, sending lots [of] love.
Last year, the Malones welcomed a new furry family member named Tilly after the loss of their pet dog, Lucy. They shared an emotional message at the time, saying, “Today we said goodbye to our beloved Lucy. She fought right to the end to stay with us. Now reunited with her sister Izzey. There are no words to describe how much you meant to us. Rest In Peace Sweetheart, you will always be in our hearts.”
In addition to Tilly, the Malones are proud dog parents to another rottweiler named Bob.
The Malones have been a fan-favorite family on Gogglebox since 2014, known for their witty and humorous commentary on the show. Beyond their television appearances, each family member has their own unique profession. Dad Tom works as a lorry driver, while mom Julie is a receptionist. Tom Jr., who has since left the series, is a model and choreographer, and younger brother Shaun is a football coach. The family is completed by daughter Vanessa, an NHS nurse and proud mother of three children – Brogan, Saoirse, and Carsen. Dave’s presence on the show and in their lives will be deeply missed, leaving a void in the Malones’ hearts.
