Firefighters from across Hampshire rushed to a large blaze involving the roof space of a property on Rake Road this afternoon, prompting a significant emergency response.
Emergency services were first alerted at 2:40pm, and crews from Petersfield, Liphook, Havant, Grayshott and Cosham responded to the scene. They were supported by specialist vehicles from Southsea, Portchester, Fareham and SHQ.
Fire Scaled Down, No Casualties
By 7:30pm, the incident was scaled down, with only a couple of fire engines remaining on site. Crews continue to dampen down hot spots as the fire has now been brought under control.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, and both the gas and electric supply to the property have been safely isolated.
Public Asked to Stay Clear
Members of the public were asked to avoid the area throughout the afternoon and evening due to the high number of emergency service vehicles in attendance.
A stop message was received at 8:51pm, formally marking the conclusion of firefighting operations at the site.

Fire investigation officers are expected to attend the scene to determine the cause of the blaze. As a precaution, firefighters will return in the morning to carry out fire safety visits at nearby homes.
