Missing Children Found Safe As Search For Mother Continues

In a promising development, two missing children from north-west London have been located, offering a glimmer of hope in the ongoing search for their mother, Jamie-Leigh Kelly, 31.

Jamie-Leigh and her two young children left a Family Assessment Centre in north-west London on Tuesday, September 19, causing great concern among authorities and the community.

Fortunately, on Sunday, September 24, the missing children, a three-year-old daughter, and a newborn baby boy, were discovered safe and sound at an address in Harwich, Essex. Upon their discovery, they were immediately placed under police protection and taken to a hospital for precautionary medical evaluation.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford, overseeing the investigation, expressed relief at the children’s safe recovery. He stated, “We are very pleased, and of course relieved, to have found the two children after extensive enquiries over the past few days. They are safe and well and receiving precautionary medical attention.”

Despite this positive development, Jamie-Leigh Kelly remains missing. Authorities are diligently working to locate her and ensure her well-being. Detective Superintendent Basford issued a direct appeal to anyone who may have aided in the children’s movement or is currently assisting Jamie-Leigh with transportation or accommodation. He urged them to come forward promptly by calling 999 or visiting a police station.

The plea extended to Jamie-Leigh herself, with Detective Superintendent Basford urging her to make contact. He appealed, “Jamie-Leigh, I continue my direct appeal to you to contact us. We are asking you to please pick up the phone and have a conversation with us so we can meet with you. Please contact us on 020 7175 0793 or go to a police station as quickly as possible.”

In connection with the case, a 63-year-old woman, identified was apprehended at the Essex address on Sunday, September 24. She faces allegations of child abduction, assisting an offender, and perverting the course of justice, and is presently in custody at an east London police station.

Additionally, two other individuals have been charged in connection with the ongoing investigation. A 52-year-old man, and a 30-year-old woman, are set to appear in court tomorrow to address these charges, further underscoring the gravity of the situation.
