A man was allegedly assaulted and had an unknown substance thrown at him in the early hours of this morning during a disturbing incident in Blackwall, east London.
Emergency services were called at approximately 1.40am to reports of an altercation on Baffin Way, E14. Officers from the Metropolitan Police attended the scene alongside crews from the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.
A 26-year-old man was found at the location with minor injuries. He did not require hospital treatment, and the substance involved was later confirmed to be non-corrosive.
At this time, no arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“Police were called at 1.40am on Thursday, April 24 to reports of an altercation. Officers joined the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade at Baffin Way, E14, where a man had allegedly been assaulted with an unknown substance.
“The 26-year-old man received minor injuries and did not require medical treatment. The substance was later confirmed to be non-corrosive. No arrests have yet been made.”
The police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward. Witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting reference 493/24Apr.
Local residents expressed concern about the incident, which adds to recent worries about safety during overnight hours in the area.
