A Man From Southsea Has Been Sentenced To Three Years In Prison For Class A Drug Supply Offences

A man from Southsea was sentenced to three years in prison for Class A drug supply offences.

Daniel Prenga, 25, of Heidelberg Road, pleaded guilty in May to possession with intent to supply a Class A drug after being charged with the offence in April.

Officers on routine patrol stopped a vehicle seen speeding and driving erratically along Eastern Road at around 12.25 a.m. on Saturday, April 23.

Officers searched Prenga and his vehicle in accordance with Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and discovered Class A drugs, £195 in cash, and a number of mobile phones.

Following a search of a Prenga-related address under Section 18 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, a significant amount of Class A drugs, two mobile phones and seven sim cards, £2580 in cash, and drug paraphernalia were discovered.

Prenga was charged in the early hours of Sunday, April 24, and pleaded guilty in court in May.

He was sentenced to three years in prison at Portsmouth Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday, July 20).

The forfeiture of the seized cash, as well as the destruction of the drugs and phones discovered, was ordered.

“We are pleased with today’s sentence and that Prenga will now face the consequences of his actions,” said Detective Constable Paul Osborne, who led the investigation.

“This was the result of some really good proactive policing, and I’d like to thank the officers who worked tirelessly to bring Prenga to justice.”
