A Deeside grandfather and grandmother have been found guilty of murdering their two-year-old grandson, Ethan Ives-Griffiths. The chilling case unfolded at Mold Crown Court after a six-week trial exposed a shocking pattern of child cruelty and abuse.
- Michael Ives, 47, and Kerry Ives, 46, both of Kingsley Road, Garden City, were convicted of murder and child cruelty.
- Ethan’s mother, Shannon Ives, 28, from Nant Garmon, Mold, was found guilty of causing or allowing his death.

The court heard how Ethan suffered sustained neglect, brutal punishments, and terrifying assaults at the hands of those meant to protect him. When toddler Ethan failed to obey Michael Ives, the punishments escalated.
