Shock in Wigan: Man Found Dead After Brutal Gunshot and Acid Attack

Body Discovered on Kilburn Drive

On Thursday 24 November 2022, just before 7pm, police were called to Kilburn Drive, Shevington, Wigan, after reports of a body. Emergency crews confirmed the man was dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as 38-year-old Liam Smith, a local resident of Kilburn Drive. Initial investigations revealed he had suffered a fatal gunshot wound and an acid attack. Disturbingly, Liam was left at the scene by his killers.

Police Launch Murder Probe – Operation Vestige

Specialist officers searched around 25 properties across Lancashire linked to the probe. Detective Inspector Lee Shaw of GMP’s Major Incident Team said:

“Our thoughts remain with Liam’s family and friends during this heartbreaking time. They continue to receive support from specialist officers.”

“We are working non-stop to catch those responsible and bring them to justice. This brutal attack is a sickening act of violence that won’t be tolerated in Greater Manchester.”

“The searches conducted are vital to uncover new leads, and we urge anyone with information to come forward. No detail is too small.”
