Man Arrested Over Shocking Kidnap of 87-Year-Old in Oldham
A 39-year-old man is in police custody following a terrifying abduction of an 87-year-old in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
Elderly Victim Dragged Into Car and Assaulted
The chilling incident took place on Lee Street between 9pm and 9:30pm on September 15, 2024. According to police, the elderly man was forcibly dragged into a black car and driven all the way to West Yorkshire. There, he was brutally attacked and thrown from the vehicle.
Despite serious injuries, the victim banged on a door for help at around 10.40pm, nearly two hours after being abducted.
Police Probe Ongoing, No Wider Threat
Detective Inspector Emma Hulston of Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team said:
“We are still piecing together the full details of this horrendous attack, including the timeline that led to the victim being assaulted and thrown from the car miles from his home.”
DI Hulston also stressed the attack appears to be an isolated event with no ongoing danger to the community.
Officers Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Police have launched a major investigation and are urgently seeking any CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage that could help crack the case.
