Convicted Killer Ian Huntley Dies After Savage Jail Attack

Convicted child killer Ian Huntley has been brutally beaten to death inside HMP Frankland. The deadly assault has sent shockwaves through the prison system as police swiftly charged a fellow inmate with murder.

Violent Assault Erupts in Prison Workshop

Durham police raced to the scene of the savage attack on the morning of Thursday, February 26, after reports of a violent disturbance inside the prison workshop. Huntley, 52, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died nearly two weeks later on Saturday, March 7.

Fellow Inmate Anthony Russell Held Over Murder

Prisoner Anthony Russell, 43, who shares HMP Frankland with Huntley, has been charged with the murder. He is due to appear via video link at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, March 11.
