Teen Charged with Murder After Horrific Taylor Swift Dance Class Stabbing
A 17-year-old boy from Banks, Lancashire, has been slapped with murder charges after a savage stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport claimed the lives of three young girls. The unnamed suspect faces charges over the deaths of six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, and nine-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar.
He’s also been hit with ten counts of attempted murder and possession of a bladed weapon. The teenager remains in custody and is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on August 1, 2024.
Brutal Attack at Kids’ Summer Dance Workshop
The shocking assault happened Monday during a “Taylor Swift Yoga and Dance Workshop” at The Hart Space community centre, where children aged 7 to 11 had gathered for summer fun.
- Three girls were killed.
- Eight other children were stabbed.
- Five children and two women who tried to stop the attack are in critical condition.
Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Ursula Doyle and Chief Constable Serena Kennedy of Merseyside Police confirmed the murder charges and ongoing investigations.
“This remains a live investigation,” said Chief Constable Kennedy. “We’re working closely with Lancashire Police and Counter Terrorism teams to get the full picture.”
Calls for Calm Amid Riots and Violence
The attack has sparked violent unrest across Southport, Hartlepool, London, and Manchester. Rioters targeted a police van in Southport, setting it on fire and clashing with officers after rumours wrongly identified the suspect.
Southport MP Patrick Hurley slammed the violence, warning offenders will face the “full force of the law.” Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer accused rioters of “hijacking” a vigil for victims and promised swift justice.
Jenni Stancombe, mother of Elsie Dot Stancombe, pleaded on Facebook: “Please, please stop the violence in Southport tonight. The police have been nothing but heroic these last 24 hours and they and we don’t need this.”
Community Mourns As Vigil Marred by Chaos
Thousands gathered for a somber vigil to honour the victims, but the peaceful event was overshadowed by fresh outbreaks of violence as grief ran deep.
The investigation presses on as the community reels from this tragic attack, with authorities determined to piece together every detail in pursuit of justice.
