Rushden Drug Dealer Caught Red-Handed with Machete
Cameron Owen, 19, of Blackfriars, Rushden, has been slammed with a four-year prison sentence after a string of serious offences involving Class A drugs and a machete.
Police Nabbed Owen Trying to Flee Twice
Owen pleaded guilty to five offences, including three incidents where police stopped cars he was in and discovered Class A drugs onboard. On two occasions, he tried to make a run for it, chucking drugs as he fled. But officers were hot on his heels and arrested him both times.
Drugs Raid Leads to More Charges
Things got worse for Owen when police raided a house in Windmill Avenue, Raunds, and found a stash of Class A drugs linked to him. On a final stop, Owen was caught carrying not only Class A drugs but also a deadly machete.
Justice Served at Northampton Crown Court
Last week, Northampton Crown Court handed Owen 3½ years for drug supply and six months for possession of a bladed article, totalling four years behind bars.
“Owen thought he was untouchable, as so many drug dealers do, but as this case shows, he wasn’t,” said DC Drage from Northamptonshire Police’s Serious & Organised Crime Team.
“I hope this case is a lesson to others involved in drug supply – we are watching you, we know more than you think, and we’ll be there the moment you slip up.”
DC Drage added: “Northamptonshire Police is relentless in tackling serious organised crime and drug issues. This result shows we’re serious about protecting our community and we’re not easing off.”
