Pair Arrested After Shocking Theft From Vulnerable Pensioner

David Jones and Staci Lorriman, both homeless, were nabbed by Middlesbrough CID after a man in his late 50s reported a brazen overnight robbery on January 5th. The thieves made off with a large sum of cash, a TV, bank cards, a phone, and other valuables.

Swift Justice for Thieves

Jones was quickly charged with theft and fraud, appearing in court on January 9th, where he was remanded in custody. Lorriman was charged with theft on January 13th and appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court the next day, being remanded until her next hearing on February 7th.

Prison Sentences for Crime Duo

Today, Jones was slapped with a 34-month prison sentence, while Lorriman received 27 months behind bars.

Detective Urges Vigilance for Vulnerable People

“This case involved a vulnerable victim, so I carried out extensive enquiries with him providing support as we worked to obtain the best evidence possible,” said Detective Constable Yas Hussain of Middlesbrough CID.

“Thankfully, CCTV captured clear images of the pair, helping secure their early guilty pleas. Swift police action led to most of the stolen cash being recovered, which will soon be returned to the victim.”

“Sadly, some will always prey on vulnerable people. I urge anyone with vulnerable friends or family to warn them against letting strangers into their homes.”
