Man Held After Serious Head Injury Assault in Hornbeam Gardens

Chacko Thenakarayil, from Hornbeam Gardens, was remanded in custody following his appearance at Southend-on-Sea Magistrates’ Court. The arrest comes after a brutal assault that left a man fighting for life.
Victim Left in Serious Condition
The attack happened just before 9pm on Saturday 6 May. Police rushed to Hornbeam Gardens after reports of an assault and found a man in his 40s with a serious head injury. He was immediately taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Sergeant Jack Mabbett, leading the investigation, assured the public there is “no wider concern.” He urged anyone who was near Hornbeam Gardens at the time or who may have captured footage to come forward.
