Uninsured Driver’s Death-Defying A390 Chase Ends in Jail
Three-Minute Showdown on the A390
Louis Roser sparked chaos when he refused to stop for police, hurtling his uninsured Audi A3 the wrong way down the A390 through Hewas Water. The high-speed, three-minute pursuit ended with officers using a tactical stop to bring Roser to a halt before he hit the 123 junction.
Justice Served at Truro Crown Court
Roser faced the judge on 11 October and was sentenced on 9 November. Police wasted no time locking him up and banning him from driving for at least three years – a move hailed as crucial for public safety.
Road Safety Chief Speaks Out
Alison Hernandez, Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and chair of Vision Zero South West, condemned Roser’s reckless driving. “His actions were absolutely lethal and could easily have caused death or serious injury,” she said.
“The custodial sentence is right. It’s a win for all of us who want safer roads.”
She added that last year’s toll in Devon and Cornwall included 47 deaths and 741 serious injuries. “We work hard to drive those numbers down. Taking dangerous drivers off our roads is vital to reaching zero road deaths.”
Police Praise and Public Appeal
Hernandez praised the officers’ calm and decisive action during the tense pursuit. She also urged the public to help by submitting footage of dangerous driving to Op Snap.
