Eight-Year Football Ban for Arsenal Thug After Violent Outburst
Bradley Prior, 38, from Brentwood, has been slapped with an eight-year Football Banning Order following a violent stand-off with police after the Arsenal vs Liverpool match at the Emirates Stadium.
Beer-Throwing and Assault on Police
On 16 March 2022, officers patrolling after the game spotted Prior acting aggressively towards Liverpool fans. Despite multiple warnings, he refused to back down. The situation escalated when he hurled a beer at a female officer and violently resisted arrest, causing damage to police property.
One officer suffered grazes to her legs and hands during the struggle. Prior was arrested on the spot and later released on bail. He was formally charged in October 2023.
Suspended Jail Time and Heavy Penalties
On 2 January, Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court handed Prior an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for one year. He must also pay £200 compensation and £300 costs.
Most notably, Prior received a strict Football Banning Order, barring him from attending any football matches for the next eight years.
Police Praise and Warning
Football Banning Officer PC Jack Muscatt, Central Football Unit, said: “Prior was warned several times to stop abusing the Liverpool fans, who were just trying to leave the stadium peacefully. He was extremely violent and aggressive during arrest.
We’re pleased he’s been handed an FBO. Everyone should be able to watch football without fear of troublemakers like Prior ruining the day. Let this be a warning—such behaviour will not be tolerated.”
District Judge Mr Brennan added: “Thank you to the officers for their calm and professional handling of Mr Prior. Many would have let this sort of behaviour slide. Their composure was commendable given his violent resistance.”
