Man Fined for 18-Month Stalking Spree in Salisbury
Peter Hill, 63, of Coronation Road, pleaded guilty to stalking without fear at Salisbury Magistrates Court on April 26. He was slapped with a £1,000 fine, a £400 surcharge, and ordered to pay £85 in costs.
Disturbing Details of Hill’s Obsessive Behaviour
Local Crime Investigator Dawson revealed, “Hill stalked his victim over an 18 month period. He would turn up at places he knew she’d be, contacted a member of her family, and repeatedly showed up at her workplace. He knocked on doors and windows, even calling her unpleasant names.”
Shockingly, Hill held trusted roles in the Salisbury community, including volunteering for CCTV and serving as a non-executive director at a local hospital.
Understanding the Seriousness of Stalking
Stalking and harassment devastate victims and their loved ones. Police urge anyone feeling threatened to report stalking immediately. It’s a pattern of repeated, unwanted behaviour designed to cause distress – whether showing up offline at homes or workplaces, or online through messages, calls, or hacking.
It can be carried out by ex-partners, friends, or even strangers. The Suzy Lamplugh Trust offers a personal assessment tool to help people identify if they’re being stalked.
