Man Charged Over 1992 Murder of Seven-Year-Old Nikki in Stockton-on-Tees

David Boyd Denies Plea in Court

David Boyd, 54, from Chesterton Court, Stockton-on-Tees, appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court this morning. He did not enter a plea to the shocking murder charge.

Tragic Murder from 1992 Reopens

Seven-year-old Nikki disappeared after leaving her grandparents’ flat in the Wear Garth area on 7 October 1992. Her body was later found inside the derelict Old Exchange building nearby after her shoes were spotted outside.

Nikki had been brutally stabbed 37 times.

Boyd Remanded; Crown Court Trial Set

No bail was granted. Boyd was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court tomorrow.

Prosecutor Niamh Reading stated: “Because of the nature of this offence, it can only be heard at the crown court.”

District Judge Paul Currer added, “The allegation is so serious, it must be heard at crown court.”
