No Fixed Address Man Jailed for Weapons, Drugs and Assault

Soofuue Yakr, 27, with no fixed address, was slammed with a 12-month prison sentence at Newcastle Crown Court on Monday, 1 March. He was found guilty of possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a Class B drug, and assault by beating.

Park Lane Assault and Police Chase

Police were called to Park Lane, W1 at 9:46am on 3 June 2020 after reports of a man threatening and assaulting a woman. Officers gave chase and arrested Yakr on suspicion of making threats to kill, carrying an offensive weapon, and possessing drugs.

At a central London police station, Yakr was charged with possession of the weapon, possession of Class B drugs, and assault by beating. He pleaded guilty to all counts at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 3 July 2020 before being sent to Newcastle Crown Court for sentencing.

Extra Charges Stack Up

Yakr’s sentencing wasn’t just for the Park Lane offences. He also received:

  • Six months for theft
  • Six months for possession of an identity document with improper intention
  • Four months for failure to surrender

These penalties will run consecutively alongside the Park Lane charges. Two additional charges—another theft and conspiracy to steal—were left on file.

Police Hit Back

“The defendant’s behaviour was wholly unacceptable,” said Detective Constable Nigel Pacquette. “I hope today’s sentence brings closure for the victim and that Yakr uses his time in prison to reflect on his actions.”
