Knife Horror in Wood Green: Teen Stabbed Multiple Times with Machete
On 8 November 2023, just after 1.20pm, a brutal attack rocked Parkland Road in Wood Green. A 19-year-old man was viciously stabbed multiple times with a machete. His attackers fled, leaving him for dead.
Hero Cops Save Victim’s Life
Officers arrived swiftly, performing crucial life-saving first aid until paramedics landed by air ambulance. The victim was rushed to hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Thankfully, his condition stabilised.
Detective Constable Rachael Pagett said: “This was a shockingly violent attack clearly aimed to end the victim’s life. Were it not for the prompt first aid from my colleagues, this would have been a murder investigation. Their quick actions saved a life.”
Sharp Investigation Nets Suspect Attempting Flight
DC Pagett analysed hours of CCTV footage and mobile phone data to track down the suspect. She identified 28-year-old Kennedy Latigo at the scene, travelling to and from the attack with a second suspect.
On 30 November, Latigo was caught trying to flee the UK at Stansted Airport. He was arrested and taken into custody, where he initially refused to comment.
Guilty Plea Ends Trial Drama
Latigo first pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm without intent and was remanded in custody. But the weight of evidence was overwhelming. On 20 May at Wood Green Crown Court, he changed his plea to guilty.
On 19 July, Latigo was sentenced to 30 months behind bars.
Three other men arrested in connection to the stabbing were released with no further action.
Suspect details: Kennedy Latigo, 28, of Hows Street, Hackney.
