Car Thief Busted After Cornwall Burglary!
George Jones Snatches Car and More from Cornwall Home
George Jones, 22, broke into a Cornwall Road property early morning on Saturday 14 October. He made off with cash, clothes, mobile phones, and crucially, a set of car keys. Using those keys, Jones didn’t waste time – he drove off in the victim’s vehicle.
Snapped and Caught: Quick Police Work Pays Off
Police quickly got hold of images of the suspect, leading to Jones’ ID just days later. The stolen motor was then spotted in Shepton Mallet on Friday 20 October, with Jones behind the wheel. That was the end of the road for him.
Pleading Guilty to a String of Crimes
Jones, who has no fixed address, was charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, and multiple driving offences linked to the stolen car. He also admitted to two separate thefts in Glastonbury on 26 September – nicking a handbag loaded with cash and shoplifting alcohol.
PC Jim Card said: “Jones’ involvement was quickly established. Being caught driving the stolen vehicle left him little choice but to plead guilty to several offences.”
Next Stop: Crown Court
Jones has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Taunton Crown Court on Monday, 20 November. Police confirmed the stolen car has been returned to its rightful owner.
