Inspector Simon Gee Fired for Gross Misconduct at Cumbria Police
Misconduct Hearing Ends in Dismissal
Simon Gee, an Inspector with Cumbria Constabulary since July 2020, was grilled in a misconduct hearing from April 11th to 14th. The hearing, chaired by an Independent Legally Qualified Chair, found Gee guilty of gross misconduct over two serious allegations out of four.
Inexcusable Behaviour Shocks Police Force
The force described Gee’s actions towards 123 colleagues as “inappropriate and inexcusable.” A senior spokesperson said, “No police officer should act in this way.”
Dismissed and Barred for Life
Gee’s dismissal is accompanied by a lifelong ban from all police employment. As the spokesperson put it, “The finding of Gross Misconduct will result not only in the officer’s dismissal from the force, but also addition to the barred list, meaning the individual will not be able to become a police officer elsewhere.”
Message to the Public: Accountability Is Key
Assuring the public, the spokesman added, “I can assure everyone that this officer’s actions are wholly unrepresentative of our Police Officers and staff, who work every day to keep people safe and in a manner we can all be proud of.”
“I hope this outcome shows the public that any allegations against officers are taken seriously, thoroughly investigated, and punished when proven,”
“Thanks to the panel, especially the Independent Legally Qualified Chair, for their diligence throughout.”
