Catapult Chaos and Homophobic Abuse: Man Caught After Late-Night Shed Break-In
Just before dawn on Sunday, 20 November 2022, police were scrambled to Lavender Hill after reports of a shed break-in. Officers quickly zeroed in on a suspect spotted in the area. A tense foot chase ensued, with a constable joined by two brave members of the public in hot pursuit. They finally tackled and arrested the man nearby.
Weapon Fired During Police Chase
During the dramatic pursuit, it’s alleged the man fired a catapult. Police believe this weapon was also used earlier to cause damage to a property before they arrived.
Alfie Rossiter Faces a Battery of Charges
The next day, Alfie Rossiter, 53, from Reeves Crescent, Swanley, was slapped with serious charges. These include three counts of assault, possession of an offensive weapon, criminal damage, burglary, and public order offences. One shocking allegation includes homophobic abuse directed at a police officer.
But that’s not all. Rossiter is also accused of a string of separate offences from Friday, 18 November. Police claim he stole a TV from Asda in London Road, Swanley, assaulted and abused witnesses, drove while disqualified, and took a vehicle without permission.
Remanded in Custody, Next Court Date Set
Rossiter appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 22 November and was remanded in custody. He will face Maidstone Crown Court on 20 December for the next stage of his case.
