Elliot Hull Jailed After Spate of Dereham Attacks
Twenty-two-year-old Elliot Hull from Yaxham received a suspended sentence then landed back behind bars just 24 hours later after a fresh spree of violence in Dereham.
Multiple Charges Pile Up
Hull appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Monday 21 November 2022 and admitted to several offences:
- Common assault on a man in his 20s in Shipdham Road, Dereham (7 June)
- Possession of cannabis in Charles Close, Dereham (9 May)
- Breach of Community Protection Notice twice (18 August & 20 October)
- Assaults on a man and woman in their 30s in Charles Close (10 June)
- Breach of a previous probation order
For these offences, Hull received 10 weeks’ imprisonment suspended for 18 months, a thinking skills course, 150 hours of unpaid work, and 25 rehabilitation activity requirement (RAR) days. He was also slapped with a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from Charles Close and must pay £200 compensation to one of his victims.
New Attacks Land Him in Jail
Just two days later on 24 November, Hull faced fresh charges from an incident in Southend, Dereham on 22 November – barely a day after receiving his suspended sentence.
The charges included:
- Two counts of assaulting emergency workers
- Three counts of threatening behaviour
- One count of assault
Magistrates activated his suspended sentence immediately and jailed him for 25 weeks. His five-year CBO remains in effect until November 2027.
Police Slam Hull’s ‘Random, Unprovoked’ Attacks
“It’s disappointing that Hull went on to reoffend less than 36 hours after leaving court on a suspended sentence,” said PC Kirsty Clements from Breckland Operational Partnership Team.
“This new incident was a random and unprovoked assault on members of the public, where Hull spat at them twice, both times making contact. After being arrested, he assaulted police officers verbally and physically.”
