Elliot Hull Jailed After Battering Spree in Dereham

Multiple Assault Charges Land Hull in Court

Elliot Hull, 22, from Priors Grove, Yaxham, near Dereham, faced Norwich Magistrates’ Court on 21 November 2022. He admitted common assault, cannabis possession, and several breaches of court orders involving incidents across Dereham earlier in 2022.

  • Assault on a man in his 20s on Shipdham Road, 7 June
  • Possession of cannabis in Charles Close, 9 May
  • Two breaches of a Community Protection Notice, August and October
  • Assaults on a man and woman, both in their 30s, in Charles Close, 10 June
  • Breach of a previous probation order

Suspended Sentence and Tough Orders

Hull was handed a 10-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, plus a thinking skills course, 150 hours of unpaid work, and 25 days of rehabilitation activity. A five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) bans him from entering Charles Close or encouraging others to do so. He was also fined £200 to compensate a victim from the area.

Out Again and Back Behind Bars

Just 24 hours after being released with that suspended sentence, Hull was back in court on 24 November. He faced fresh charges after a disturbing incident in Southend, Dereham, on 22 November.

  • Two assaults on emergency workers
  • Three counts of threatening behaviour
  • One assault charge

Magistrates wasted no time activating his suspended sentence and jailed Hull for 25 weeks. The CBO remains until November 2027.

Police React to Reoffending

“It’s disappointing that Hull reoffended less than 36 hours after leaving court,” said PC Kirsty Clements from Breckland Operational Partnership Team. “He spat at members of the public twice, making contact both times. After his arrest, he verbally and physically assaulted police officers. This was a random and unprovoked attack.”
