Rochdale Paedophile Gerald Glancy Jailed for Shocking Sex Crimes

Gerald Glancy, from Beswick Royds Street, Rochdale, was yesterday found guilty at Minshull Street Crown Court of multiple horrific sex offences against children.

Grotesque Crimes Exposed

Glancy had already admitted to a litany of vile offences including rape and sexual activity with young children, engaging in sexual communication with a child under 16, and creating a staggering 47,000 indecent images of children. Investigators uncovered at least 200 category C images and the distribution of two category A images – the most serious category.

The vile crimes took place over three years from October 2018 to May 2022.

How Cops Nabbed the Monster

On 15 February 2021, Greater Manchester Police swooped on Glancy’s home based on intelligence tied to his phone. Officers seized multiple devices including four mobiles, five hard drives, five flash drives, and two cameras.

During interviews, Glancy admitted to the offences, violating a previous Sexual Harm Prevention Order. A follow-up raid in June 2022, triggered by the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, uncovered five more unauthorised devices.

Victims’ Voices and Police Vows

The court heard harrowing testimony from 24 young victims about the abuse they endured.

DCI Suzanne Keenaghan said: “Firstly, we commend the bravery of the victims and their families for supporting this prosecution. It has been an extremely harrowing time for them.”

“Glancy is the worst kind of offender. We are relieved this predator is off the streets and can no longer harm children.”

“Let this be a warning: if you exploit children, we will find you and put you behind bars.”

“Anyone aware of child abuse, online or offline, should contact Greater Manchester Police. We will listen and thoroughly investigate every claim.”
