Man Found Guilty of Murdering 23-Year-Old in Islington After CCTV and Phone Data Hunt

Brutal Attack Caught on CCTV

A 31-year-old man has been convicted of murdering 23-year-old Yahye Ahmed in Islington. Ibrahim Elkadmiri followed Yahye outside a café on Axminster Road armed with a large knife. CCTV showed Yahye trailing Elkadmiri wielding a baseball bat before the fatal stabbing. Witnesses and dash-cam footage confirmed Elkadmiri plunged the knife into Yahye five times.

Accomplice Nabbed After Helping Killer Escape

Ahmed Abdi Ahmed, 34, who picked up Elkadmiri in his BMW moments after the attack, was convicted of assisting an offender. Mobile phone records and CCTV tracked their movements, including a trip to a sports shop in Wood Green where a grey tracksuit—later found at Elkadmiri’s hideout—was purchased. Both men have been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on September 25 at Woolwich Crown Court.

Police Praise Investigation, Call for Justice

Detective Sergeant Devan Taylor of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said, “Despite an extensive investigation, we may never know what triggered this violent confrontation, but it ended a young man’s life.”

“Elkadmiri and Ahmed did all they could to cover their tracks, but it wasn’t enough. The jury saw through their lies. This brutal case highlights the deadly consequences of carrying weapons. Nothing can bring Yahye back, but I hope the verdict offers his family some peace.”

Tragic End Outside Axminster Road Café

On August 30, 2023, Yahye and friends spotted Elkadmiri walking by. Armed with a baseball bat, Yahye followed him. As friends ran up, they stopped in shock seeing Elkadmiri brandishing a knife. Elkadmiri fled, dumping the bat in a wheelie bin. Emergency services raced to the scene but Yahye died there.
