Asylum Seeker Caught Groping Teen on Central Line
A 39-year-old asylum seeker has been locked up after groping a 17-year-old girl on the London Underground. Muslih Alotaibi was caught red-handed fondling the teenager on the Central Line last September, a court has heard.
Victim Bravely Speaks Out, Police Act Fast
The shocking attack happened on September 2, 2023, as the victim travelled between Oxford Circus and Mile End. Alotaibi attempted to slip his hand under the girl’s leg. The quick-thinking teenager alerted another passenger, leading to police swiftly detaining Alotaibi shortly afterwards.
19 Weeks Behind Bars and Deportation Looming
Alotaibi, who arrived in the UK earlier that year seeking asylum from Saudi Arabia, faced justice at Inner London Crown Court. Wearing grey prison clothes and aided by an Arabic interpreter, he was sentenced to 19 weeks in prison, with time served deducted.
The court also handed down a five-year sexual harm prevention order. He is now restricted to using only a credit or Oyster card registered in his name for public transport, ensuring authorities can track his movements.
The judge warned him: “I see that you are illegally in the UK. The Home Office should be aware of this conviction and take steps to carry out their duties to remove you.”
