Man Charged with Murder After Woman Found Dead in Bethnal Green
A 45-year-old man has been charged with murder following the shocking death of a 73-year-old woman in Bethnal Green.
Mizanur Rahman to Appear in Court
Mizanur Rahman is set to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 16 August, after police charged him over the incident.
Scene of Tragedy
Emergency services were called at around 9pm on Thursday, 14 August, to an address on 1 Lane, Bethnal Green after the London Ambulance Service raised the alarm.
Officers discovered Sufia Khatun suffering from a serious head injury. Despite frantic efforts by paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ongoing Investigation
The victim’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. A post-mortem is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
The investigation is now in the hands of homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, who are treating the case as murder.
