BMW Driver Jailed for Deadly M25 Crash That Killed Motorcyclist

A BMW driver has been locked up for five years after a “dangerous” crash on the M25 claimed the life of motorcyclist Attila Radi in 2021. Ashley McCabe, 36, from Herne Bay, Kent, was also slapped with a 15-year driving ban and will serve an extra five years on licence after his release.

Fatal Collision on a Sunny Day

The tragedy unfolded on April 18, 2021, when Attila Radi, 33, and his fiancée were riding their motorbike home from Surrey. Both were highly visible, clad in high-vis gear, on a bright, clear day.

McCabe’s Reckless Driving Sparks Crash

  • Witnesses spotted McCabe tailgating a white Audi S5 near junctions 7 and 6.
  • He swerved his grey BMW 1 Series into lane three to overtake the Audi, hitting Radi’s bike.
  • Radi was thrown into the central reservation and died at the scene. His fiancée was injured but survived.
  • McCabe fled the scene but turned himself in the next day.

Guilty Verdict and Tough Sentence

At Kingston Crown Court in July, McCabe denied noticing the motorbike but was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving. He was sentenced on October 22.

“The dangerous actions of McCabe led to the worst-case scenario and the completely avoidable death of Attila Radi,” said Detective Constable Marlon Nolan. “McCabe’s driving was aggressive, dangerous, and intimidating, showing total disrespect for others. He will now have time to think about the life he needlessly ended.”
