Bristol Man Nabbed with Knuckleduster in Corsham Drug Sting
Zaveian Brown Caught Red-Handed on Box Hill
A Bristol man was sentenced after being caught with an offensive weapon during a police stop in Box, Wiltshire. Zaveian Brown, 40, of Kensington Park, Easton, admitted possession of a knuckleduster and was sentenced at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on October 1.
Brown was stopped on June 13 on Box Hill after officers received reports of suspected drug dealing in the Corsham area. Matching the description given to police, Brown’s vehicle was searched, revealing a knuckleduster hidden in the passenger door.
Balaclava and Body Armour Raise Alarm
Officers were shocked to find Brown dressed in a balaclava and body armour at the time of the stop. Detective PC Adam Neish, who led the operation, said:
“We were responding to reports of a man dealing drugs matching Brown’s description. When we stopped him, he was dressed in balaclava and body armour. A search uncovered a knuckleduster in the passenger door.”
Knuckledusters are prohibited under the Offensive Weapons Act 2019, making them illegal to carry due to their potential to cause serious injury.
Fines and Community Reassurances
Brown was fined £692, ordered to pay a £277 surcharge, plus £85 in court costs.
PC Neish added a message to the local community:
“I want to reassure residents that we will continue proactive stop and searches to tackle crime and respond to their concerns. Wiltshire Police are fully committed to keeping the area safe through ongoing enforcement.”
This arrest highlights Wiltshire Police’s dedication to cracking down on drug dealing and offensive weapon possession in the region.
