Several defendants faced Bromley and Bexley Magistrates’ Courts on May 8, 2024, charged with crimes ranging from assault to drink driving. Here’s the lowdown on who did what and what they got handed.
Assault and Vandalism
James Byford, 40, of Crayford Way, Crayford, admitted assaulting a woman and damaging her property—including her back gate, car, and Ring doorbell—on February 5. He was slapped with a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, plus a £338 fine.
Drug Driving and Community Orders
Mehtap Barballi, 24, of Barrow Hill Close, Worcester Park, pleaded guilty to drug driving on January 20 in Bromley. Barballi got a one-year community order, including 100 hours of unpaid work, and was banned from driving for 18 months.
Knife Possession and Traffic Offences
- Samara Hercules, 41, from Selby Road, Bromley admitted carrying a kitchen knife on February 4 in Bromley. She received a one-year community order and a £120 fine.
- Malcolm Spencer, 53, of Old Lane, Tatsfield confessed to driving while disqualified on March 8 in Keston. Spencer got a one-year community order with 80 hours’ unpaid work and an 11-month driving ban.
- Diego Roacha Rojas, 41, Basevi Way, Deptford, pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance on March 4 in New Cross Road. He was handed a one-year community order with 40 hours of unpaid work and banned from driving for 19 months.
