Scunthorpe Man Caught in Sick Abuse Case
Alan Wigglesworth, 45, from Scunthorpe, has been found guilty of abusing two vulnerable teenage girls. The verdict dropped after a tense five-day trial at Grimsby Crown Court, which ended on 28 November 2025.
Seven Shocking Counts of Sexual Abuse
The jury convicted Wigglesworth on seven serious charges, including:
- Two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13
- Two counts of sexual assault
- Causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity
- Assault by penetration
- Inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity
Despite his denials, Wigglesworth was found guilty of manipulating the two 13-year-old girls over a long period, using alcohol and threats to abuse them.
Sentencing Set for February as Justice Looms
Wigglesworth is now in custody, awaiting sentencing on 6 February 2026 at Grimsby Crown Court. Detective Constable Nathan LeQuelenec of Humberside Police’s Protecting Vulnerable People Unit slammed Wigglesworth’s refusal to admit guilt.
“He cruelly took advantage of them, luring them in to sexually assault and abuse them all for his own perverse sexual gratification. Wigglesworth’s refusal to admit guilt and forcing the victims and families through trial could be seen as another twisted ploy to control them and appease his detestable behaviour.”
Police Praise Brave Victims and Urge More Reports
DC LeQuelenec praised the courage of the victims, saying: “I’d like to commend the victims for first disclosing what was happening to a trusted adult and for their patience and maturity throughout a very lengthy process.”
The police are calling on anyone suffering abuse to speak out, promising support and relentless pursuit of offenders:
- “We will continue prosecuting offenders without mercy.”
- “If you’re a victim or suspect abuse, report it to us or a trusted adult.”
- “You can also contact specialist support networks confidentially before making a report.”
Humberside Police remain committed to protecting the vulnerable and delivering justice for abuse victims.
