Brothers Jailed After Roof Rampage in NW6

Two brothers sparked chaos in NW6 before landing behind bars. Billy Watson, 20, and Charlie Watson, 18, both of Tile Kiln Lane, Enfield, were handed 15-month prison sentences for public nuisance, affray, and criminal damage.

Roof Standoff Sparks Evacuations

On 26 March around 5pm, police spotted the two men acting suspiciously near a motorbike in a Kingsgate Road car park. When officers approached, the pair bolted, climbing garden fences and scaling scaffolding to reach the roofs of nearby terrace houses.

Terrified locals reported the men might be armed with a firearm. The brothers then hurled roof tiles and other objects at police below, smashing property and triggering a major police response. Some residents had to be evacuated while a large cordon sealed off the area.

Hours-Long Siege Ends with Arrests

The rooftop standoff dragged on until 12.40am the next day, when the brothers finally surrendered and were arrested. Searches found no weapon or stolen bike. Both admitted guilt at Blackfriars Crown Court on 2 May and were sentenced the same day.

Police Praise Community Support but Warn of Impact

“The actions of both men caused a huge disturbance to the local community. Many residents were displaced for hours,” said Detective Constable Dean Puzey.

“This incident diverted vital police and ambulance resources and required the National Police Air Service’s attendance, disturbing local residents further.”

“Throwing tiles endangered officers and damaged multiple properties. We hope this prosecution sends a clear message: disruptors will face consequences.”

Charlie Watson also picked up an extra six-month sentence for possession of an offensive weapon from an unrelated offence, to run consecutively with his other sentence.
