A convicted paedophile from Winsford has been locked up again after cops found him with thousands of vile images of children.
Gary McVeigh, 48, was sentenced to 14 months behind bars at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, 6 January.
Shocking Haul of Sickening Images Found
During a standard check on 21 May 2025, officers raided McVeigh’s home on Delamere Street. They seized his phone, laptop, USB stick, and an SSD memory card.
Forensic experts uncovered a sick stash of more than 12,950 indecent images of children. Even worse, McVeigh had shared over 120,000 images with other paedophiles online.
Police Crack Down on Dangerous Offender
“As a registered sex offender, McVeigh faced regular, tough checks to stop him offending again,” said Detective Sergeant Helen Wrigley.
“He knew about these checks but carried on downloading and spreading thousands of horrific images showing children tortured, raped and abused.”
“Thankfully, our monitoring got him off the streets fast. Now he faces the full consequences.”
“This shows people we’re serious about watching registered sex offenders and striking hard whenever they break the rules.”
Extra Penalties Hit McVeigh
Besides his 14-month jail term, McVeigh faces £187 in court costs. He’s also slapped with a 10-year stint on the sex offenders register – ensuring he stays on the radar for a decade.
