Cypriot Drug Dealer Jailed for Four and a Half Years in Surrey Bust – Set for Deportation
Routine Stop Exposes Massive Drug Operation
Demetris Killiaris, 28, a Cypriot national with no fixed address, was hit with a 4.5-year prison sentence after a major drug investigation in Surrey. The Guildford Crown Court heard he pleaded guilty to ten charges, including possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs, plus money laundering.
Killiaris will be deported to Cyprus once he serves his time, police confirmed.
Drugs Disguised as Children’s Sweets Spark Alarm
The saga began in May 2021 when officers stopped Killiaris’s car in East Horsley and found a large haul of illegal drugs onboard. A search of his home revealed a full-blown drug factory stocked with MDMA, cocaine, ketamine, cannabis, and even homemade cannabis-infused cookies.
Shockingly, some drugs were disguised as popular kids’ sweets — a dangerous ploy that could have led to tragic accidents if consumed by minors.
Dashcam Footage and Bank Records Deliver the Knockout Blow
Surrey Police’s financial crime experts uncovered evidence of huge cash flows through Killiaris’s bank accounts, spotlighting the scale of his operation. Dashcam footage from his vehicle caught him making multiple drug deliveries, sealing his fate.
Despite being on bail, he was re-arrested with more drugs by the Vanguard unit and thrown into custody immediately.
Police Praise Teamwork That Took Down Dealer
PC Phil Dagnall said: “This was some excellent teamwork between response officers, the financial investigation team, and Vanguard. Thanks to their efforts, a large quantity of dangerous drugs has been taken off the streets. A drug dealer is now behind bars and facing deportation.”
All drugs and illegal profits have been confiscated. Surrey Police vow to continue cracking down on drug crime to protect local communities.
