London Mum Murdered: Police Hunt Family of Homeless Victim
Detectives are desperate to track down the family or next-of-kin of Anthony Marks, a 51-year-old homeless man brutally attacked and murdered in London. The shocking assault happened in the early hours of Saturday, 10 August, on Cromer Street, WC1.
Teen Charged Over Murder
Anthony had been sheltering in a nearby bin shed before the attack. A 17-year-old boy from Dagenham was arrested on Friday, 4 October, and charged with Anthony’s murder on Sunday, 6 October. The teenager appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. His next court date is set for Wednesday, 9 October, at the Old Bailey.
Police Plea: Who Knew Anthony?
Despite the arrest, police still haven’t identified Anthony’s next-of-kin. Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said:
“Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to identify a next-of-kin for Anthony. I urge anyone who can help to come forward.”
DCI Lee also called on witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to get in touch. “There were people in the area at the time. We know some tried to help Anthony. If that’s you, please contact us.”
