Southampton Man Held Over Shocking Stratford Centre Carpark Murder
Vasile Gorghescu, 41, from Rayner Gardens, Southampton, was arrested on Wednesday, 10 January. The following day, he was charged with murder.
Gorghescu remains in custody ahead of his Friday, 12 January appearance at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court.
Body Found in Stratford Centre Carpark
The charge stems from the discovery of a man’s body at Stratford Centre carpark at 1:17am on 10 January.
Detectives are working hard to confirm the deceased’s identity and notify next of kin. A post-mortem will be carried out soon.
Police Appeal for Information
Chief Superintendent Simon Crick, overseeing Newham policing, said: “I know many local people use the Stratford Centre every day and this incident will of course cause considerable concern to shoppers and retailers.”
“I would like to reassure people that a man has been charged, but if you have information that you think could help us, I ask that you contact the police.”
