Burglar's Blunder Sees Crime Spree Crumble
Larry Connors, 30, is finally off the streets after a string of break-ins across England came crashing down thanks to one careless mistake — leaving his DNA at a crime scene.
DNA Evidence Nails Connors
Connors’ luck ran out after bungled attempts to crack homes in Sidcup, Northolt, Chester, and Cambridge. In November 2021, he tried to break into a house on Harcourt Avenue, Sidcup, but fled empty-handed. However, he left crucial DNA on a window frame that police used as their smoking gun.
Continued Crimes and Curfew Breach
Despite the close call, Connors pushed on with his crime spree, breaking into multiple homes. He was also wanted for breaking a home detention curfew linked to a previous three-year sentence for masterminding burglaries nationwide.
Captured During an Ordinary Haircut
The law finally caught up with Connors in June last year. He was arrested while getting a haircut at a barbershop in Radcliffe on Trent, Nottinghamshire, ending months of a nationwide manhunt.
Justice Served
Connors was sentenced to four years and six months in prison on Friday (April 5). Detective Constable Sarah Longbottom from Cambridgeshire Constabulary said:
“Connors is a prolific burglar who has caused pain and misery for victims, not only in Cambridgeshire but across the country. Burglary remains a top priority for law enforcement. We’re relieved to see Connors behind bars, giving victims closure and keeping homes safe.”
