Drug Dealer Caught Red-Handed Trying to Flush Phone Faces Four-and-a-Half Years
Digital Detectives Crack Case
A slick digital forensics team helped nail Terry Daoust, 34, of Shackleford Green, Godalming, after police found crucial evidence on his hidden phone. Daoust was locked up for four years and six months at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday, 4 April, following a lengthy investigation.
Flushed Phone Fuels Conviction
Officers raided Daoust’s home on 11 March 2023. He was caught with his hand down the toilet, desperately trying to destroy damning evidence – his mobile phone. Experts recovered the device from the lavatory u-bend and painstakingly rebuilt it. Messages revealed Daoust was supplying cocaine and cannabis.
Second Phone Seals His Fate
Daoust was arrested again on 24 January this year. Police seized another phone packed with messages proving he was still trafficking drugs. On 29 February he pleaded guilty, sealing his fate at court.
Police Vow to Keep Fighting Drug Crime
PC Laidlaw, who led the probe, said: “Tackling drug dealing across Surrey is a commitment we will continue to focus on. Those who deal drugs have a profound impact on the community, and we will continue to seek justice against them.”
Without the dogged efforts of officers and tech experts, Daoust might still be on the streets. Instead, he faces a long stint behind bars – a clear warning to dealers everywhere.
