Medway Police Smash Drug Gangs in Major Raids
Medway cops have hit the jackpot in a recent crackdown on drug dealers and criminals. Sweeping raids across Gillingham and Rochester uncovered cocaine, ketamine, weapons, and even counterfeit cash.
Targeted Raids Take Down Key Drug Hotspots
- In Gillingham’s Redfern Avenue, six stop-and-searches led to a breakthrough when a police dog sniffed out ketamine on a suspect, who was then given a Community Resolution.
- A Canterbury Street pub bust saw officers catch a man with five bags of cocaine, cash, and a mobile phone – ending in another Community Resolution.
- Rochester High Street was no safer. Police dogs found cannabis deal bags on a man, leading to a follow-up search of his home. There, officers seized a stash of Class A & B drugs, multiple phones, scales, deal bags, weapons like a sickle knife and crossbow, fake cash, and a safe loaded with more drugs.
Drug Kingpin Nabbed and Charged
Rashanne Miller, 31, from High Street, Rochester, is now facing serious charges of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs. He’s due in Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 17 November.
Top Cop Pledges Relentless Raids
“We run these operations regularly to deter anyone thinking of carrying illegal drugs. It’s also key to ensuring local businesses follow licensing rules,” said Chief Inspector Paul Diddams, Medway’s District Commander. “Our police dogs are expertly trained to detect drugs during stops under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Residents can rest easy knowing we’ll keep up these raids to stop crime in its tracks.”
